Joseph McKenzie (1929–2015), known as ‘the Father of Modern Scottish Photography,’ was a pioneering post-war photographer. After serving as an RAF photographer, he studied at the London College of Printing and later taught at St. Martin’s and Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art. McKenzie helped establish photography as an art form, and later became the first living UK photographer to have a solo exhibition and receive a Scottish Arts Council grant. Additionally, his work has been included in numerous notable private and public collections, such as the V & A.
Born in Bordeaux, Venetian at heart, and a Toulousan by adoption, the photographer Bernard Bonnefon combines a masterful eye for composition with a high level of experience and knowledge in photographing not only the world around him but also artworks. Bonnefon’s photography shows a clear command of light, perspective, and form. Whether in the studio or outdoors, he brings together strong technical ability with an eye for detail. His work is valued not only for its precision but also for the way it captures the character of both artworks and landscapes.
