Discover our latest curated inspiration, featuring the world’s oldest learned society devoted to natural history, The Linnean Society, alongside Dubai-based photographer Euan Air and Royal Museums Greenwich, showcasing unique archival footage by mariner and photographer Alan Villiers.
The Linnean Society, a not-for-profit organisation founded in 1788, is the oldest learned society devoted to the science of natural history. Their collections and programmes bring the current challenges of the natural world, such as biodiversity loss and climate change, to people of all ages and backgrounds. Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace published their original paper on evolution in one of their journals, and novel research of biological significance continues to be published in their journals to this day.
A Dubai-based photographer, Euan Air has documented the Arab Spring, with an exceptional collection of political graffiti and slogans. Alongside his more urban photography, Euan also has an impressive collection of photographs of stunning desert landscapes.
This growing footage collection includes the exclusive and unique archival footage by the mariner and photographer Alan Villiers. These films, captured between the 1920s and 1940s, were shot all over the world, from Scandinavia and Africa, to Asia, North America and the Far East. Royal Museums Greenwich also has footage of the Cutty Sark, J-class yachting, midget submarine trials and much more.
